St. Anne's PCCW of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish Minutes April 13, 2008
Co-leader Sharon VandeCastle called the meeting to order with a prayer. 17 members were present. Treasurer's Report: Was read and approved. No disbursements. Ending Balance is $1153.09. Secretary's Report : Minutes of the March 9, 2008 were read. Corrections/additions were noted as follows: Scholarship Committee: Dawn Zeinert will contact nominee, Ray Kaluzny. 1 st Communion: – Coffee and rolls will be available after the 1 st Communion Mass. Old Business: Scholarship Committee: Will consist of Lynn Crist, Carol Plachetka, and Carol Anibas. Carol Plachetka will get a letter out to the 12 seniors to apply by May 4, 2008. 1 st Communion: Will be on April 20 th . Students and Families were invited to come for milk, coffee and rolls before going on to their own celebrations. Spring Vicariate IV: Held at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Clintonville. A sign up sheet was made available. Vicariate minutes are available for last falls meeting, if anyone wants a copy. Mother/Daughter Appreciation Luncheon: Will be coordinated by Mary Lynn Clark on April 27, 2008, after the 10:30 mass with help from Kathy Wagner. It was decided to keep the luncheon on the 27 th of April this year however next year will choose a different day so it will not conflict with the Knights Convention. 8 th Grade & Senior Graduation Celebration: Will be held after 10:30 Mass, May 4, 2008. It will be coordinated by Donna Benke with help from the 7 th Graders. Confirmation Introductions: It was decided that coffee, milk and rolls would be served after 10:30 Mass on May 11, 2008 for the Confirmation candidates, their families and sponsors. Co-leader Sharon VandeCastle will coordinate this. Salad Luncheon: Will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Ss. Peter and Paul Church along with the First Presbyterian Church. Carol Sambs and Sharon Bolles will Co-chair the event. Sharon VandeCastle, Cindy Rohan, Dawn Zeinert, Mary Lynn Clark, Pam Thiel, Carol Plachetka, Ginny Ginther, Kathy Wagner, Vera Markunas, Donna Behnke and Mary Jane Baehmann will also work. Workers will each take a section of the parish list to call for donations. Mary Jane Baehmann offered to cook and cube the turkey. Eileen Collar along with her daughters will again prepare and donate a salmon. Karen Beres will coordinate the Bake Sale . RCIA : Candidate Kelly Watras received a card and gift from St. Anne's on Easter Vigil delivered by Mary Lynn Clark. A Mass Card was chosen for the gift. It was well received. Kelly was thrilled with it once it was explained what it was and how she might use it. Prayer Shawls: Have been distributed and greatly appreciated by the recipients. Co-leader Sharon VandeCastle has a supply for anyone who is in need of one. We are still in need of yarn for additional shawls. We received a large donation of yarn from Pat Gruel. New Business: Marian Day: Held at Most Precious Blood Parish in New London on April 15, 2008. Renovation of their church is complete. Fr. Joel Semper will be the presenter. Fr. David Lewis invites everyone to join the parish for “Our Lady of the Rosary”. No time was given. LeRoy Butler: To speak to CCD Students and the parish at 7:00 p.m. Set up at 5:30 p.m.. An announcement will be made at area schools and churches, inviting all to join us for this special occasion. No reservations are necessary. Cookies and refreshments will be served. He will speak for an hour. He will sell and sign books and give an autograph for a donation of $10.00 to his Foundation for Breast Cancer. Sunshine Girl: Renee Cullen has been our sunshine girl for a LONG time and wishes to give someone else the opportunity to spread the cheer. A volunteer was requested and Ginny Ginther volunteered. Ginny also makes all the cards that are sent out. Co-leader Sharon VandeCastle told us that fellow member, Shirley Sexton is going thru a lot right now, having lost her Father, and her mother isn't well and Shirley has had some personal challenges with her own health. Sharon will take her flowers. Parish Council: Mary Jane Baehmann is our representative to the Parish Council. She informed us the parish will be doing a census. She wondered if the committee doing the calling for the Salad Luncheon, could at that time ask/remind/encourage parishioners to fill out and mail in their census response. The Parish is also looking to see if anyone in our parish is in NEED. If you are aware of someone, please inform the Parish Council. Spring Clean-Up: Will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 both inside and out. Volunteers are needed. Coffee & Rolls: Beginning in June we will again have coffee and rolls after 10:30 Mass on the first weekend of the month. On the first weekend of the month on Saturday, after the 4:00 p.m. Mass, we will serve Crackers & Cheese. We need volunteers. Carol Plachetka volunteered to do the setup and make the coffee. Mother's Day: On Mother's Day after Mass we will again sell Carnations. Chris & Dick Bando volunteered for a LONG time but have asked if someone else would take over. Carol Plachetka will pick up the carnations and the Knights agreed to sell the carnations on both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The proceeds go to the Wisconsin Right to Life. We will order extra rolls and coffee for the Knights to have before their meeting.
The meeting was adjourned with a prayer. Next meeting is May 11, 2008. Sharon and Jim VandeCastle have volunteered for setup and prayer.
